CTA Red Line evacuated after train car part hits third rail

CHICAGO (CBS)– CTA Red Line riders read what sounded like an explosion on the tracks overnight. 

Law enforcement claimed all-around 1:30 a.m., a part fell off a practice and hit the third rain near Condition Street and Jackson Boulevard. 

The teach aspect sparked and prompted a loud sounds.

“We just listened to a loud boom and all people was like what was that?” A witness informed CBS 2. 

No accidents have been described, but passengers had to evacuate. 

Trains are now running without problems.
