Ohio.comAfricanPath Blog: Africans should develop innovation outside of government structures. Yes! Even this blogpost says:
One of the things I have started working on is looking for small yet important solutions that anyone can work on that bring considerable change. In Africa, we have been heavily reliant on governments since they control a lot of the resources. The basic needs everyone needs are food, shelter and clothing. I would add knowledge is an important component. With globalization, it has become increasing important for nations and its citizens to craft solutions that make them competitive outside their borders.
I think African nations can create global solutions if her citizens can start looking for competitive solutions outside of government. Most governments have proven to be detrimental instead of progressive in how they spread the resources for nation building. The key industries I see a chance for Africans gaining an innovative advantage include agriculture, business process outsourcing, mobile communications and support services, online services geared towards developing world markets, health technology in third world markets and a lot of other industries.
A great article shows to how Indians are developing community based solutions to start addressing energy and environmental issues outside of government. My question is, how can Africans start creating industry leading solutions without waiting for governments to bring their expertise to generate growth? Any suggestions of industries with low entry barriers that we can concentrate on?"
